Every year I think of writing down the list of what I got for Christmas and other assorted winter holidays; every year I decide that's awfully selfish and materialistic, and so don't bother; every year I promptly forget which gifts I got from whom and when, and regret not having recorded it.
And so, for a change, I present:
My Christmas (and other assorted holidays) Loot List.
- From Devon's family, a wireless PlayStation2 controller. I still use my PS2 regularly, but my old controllers were all swiftly dying. With this controller, I was actually able to beat Axel and continue on tothe second floor of Castle Oblivion in Chain of Memories. (Which is awesome, by the way.)
- From Devon, BPAL bottles of Inez, Penny Dreadful, and O along with 9 imps. (As blogged here.) I wore Inez on Christmas day, and it was beautiful beyond words. I'm receiving the imps in ones or twos throughout the week of Hanukkah.
- From my parents, a fair pile of things: A pair of handknit socks from my mother, a necklace from
sihaya09 from my father, and a soon to be ordered Gorillapod, as well as a handful of stocking stuffers. I'm wearing the socks now and they are wonderful. The necklace was so unexpected and so beautiful as to make me cry. The tripod shall be infinitely useful once it arrives, because I hate flash and my big shiny tripod, however wonderful, isn't easy to carry around wherever I go.
- From my sister, a handmade teddy bear which I completely adore. She handmade all of the family's gifts this year (with some help from my mum), and I could not have asked for a better one for myself. I collect select teddies, and this one is perfect.
- From my aunt Lynn, three books: The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Eulalia!, Doomwyte. One to complete my Harry Potter collection, others to continue my Redwall collection, none of which I've read and all of which look very promising.
- From my maternal grandparents, a $50 Borders gift card. I don't know what I'll buy with it, yet, but it shall of course be put to good useif nothing else, after all, I do love books.
- From my great-aunt, $40 which will go to general book-and-BPAL buying.
- From my aunt Kriss, a hand-dyed blue-and-green silk scarf. I don't know how often I'll wear it (I'm more the yellow-green sort, so it clashes with most of my clothes), but it is delicate and quite beautiful.
To be updated, of course, as late gifts arrive.
