A small part of why I don’t post public is that I have twice had authors turn up in DW comments to reply to something I have said about their books. They were books I liked! The authors were perfectly pleasant! It still freaked me out. (There are some authors who I’m DW friends with, but at least I know they’re there and their comments wouldn’t come as a surprise.)
