Actually maybe it's also worth mentioning that AI text generation differs a lot across different models! Not everything is the ChatGPT model of I say "generate a book review" -> it "[produces three-paragraph book review]".
Chatbot-style models are more I say "hi" -> it says "hello"
RP-style models (which overlap a lot with chatbots, since most users use them, obviously, for ERP) are "hi *I smile*" -> "hello *I wave*"
More advanced RP style models can adjust their formatting/person/etc. "'Hi.' She smiles." -> "'Hello.' They wave." This can be adapted into (clumsy) paragraph-length back and forths; it still has a my turn/your turn vibe, like RP, but with a novel-esque voice.
Novel-style models are for ... writing ... novels; they don't have a my turn/your turn structure, but complete/add new sentences. "'Hi.' She smiles. 'Hello.' They wave back" -> "awestruck, eyes soft. It's both hilarious and mortifying, being loved like this."
Their strengths depend on their training data, but users can massage a model into a fringe use case, like nudging an RP bot to write stories, like using a novel bot to help autocomplete phrasing (but, because of training data, not content) for nonfiction writing; etc.
& all of them have their charm/drawbacks.
lol sorry for the novel, you've unlocked a special interest I've spent 14 months fostering.
