More BPAL imps up for grabs to my flist, also looking to give away some badges.
I've finally finished testing my new load of BPAL imps and orders. It took forever, as my box of BPAL has been split between two houses, and because, well, there is only so much time in the day. Almost everything was a success, although there were some sad failures, and I'm listing those here.
I'm happy to send these imps off for free to people on my friends list! On one condition: if you've received imps before, you have to tell me what you thought of them. I like to know that these are landing in interested hands. I also prefer to send to people that I regularly trade mail with, but I'm flexible on that point.
kaimetso, I'm determined to send you some sometime, but my rejects tend to be pretty feminine (I guess because I wear androgynous scents, so I end up keeping most of those). But at least two of this list are promising (Isle of Demons, Aziraphale) and two others (Juke Joint, Mantis), might be, depending on your taste. Let me know if you want one.
lupanotte, I want to send you imps too, but our tastes are too similar! However, Mantis and Sudha Segara might work for you, maybe Sugar Skull or Juke Joint if they sound interesting. Let me know if you want them.
ISLES OF DEMONS (GC, Wanderlust)
Twin islands near Newfoundland, now lost, that were believed to be gateways to Hell. The scent is of wet, dark greenery, carnivorous flowers, volcanic gas, and the hot black musk of the demons and wild beasts that populated the islands.
Wet decaying greenery with a dark wind of black incense and musk. I didn't get much of the floral myself with this blend, but that may just be my skin. It is too dark and decaying for me, but may work better on a guy.
Tentatively reserved for
kaimetso.
MANTIS (GC, Rappaccini's Garden, now discontinued) Forgot I had this one!
Crushed herbs and sweet amber resin with a streak of patchouli, neroli and golden musk.
Lemongrass: bright, citrus, and yellow green. This was a very simple scent on me, not unpleasant but totally not my style. If you like citrus, you should like this. The amber tempers and rounds it, but not much. It's recently discontinued (5/30/07), so it's in slightly higher demand now!
JUKE JOINT (GC, Bewitching Brews)
Kentucky Bourbon, sugar and a sprig of mint.
All I can pick out is booze, warm golden and just a little sour, and quite a lot of it at that. I'm rather anti-alcohol, so this isn't the scent for me. Perhaps someone on my flist will like it more?
SUDHA SEGARA (GC, Bewitching Brews)
Sweet milk and warm, healing ginger with a touch of golden honey and our blend of Ambrosia.
Sweet cream tempering sharp fresh ginger. Not quite foody, very golden in color, comforting but not too simple. I like it, but, unfortunately, my skin drinks this oil down, and the scent on me has no throw and is barely discernible.
TITANIA (GC, Illyria)
White grape, white peach, iced pear, musk rose, sweet pea, moonflower and snapdragon.
Fruity floral, this is what every other Glade candle tries to be, but fails at. It's a very full scent, pure crisp fruits (pear predominant), feminine florals, and a sparkling clear overall feeling. It would be fine on someone else; it is, however, just about every scent I will never wear.
Tentatively reserved for my sister.
CHUPAROSA (GC, Bewitching Brews, The Conjure Bag)
The Hummingbird of Love, the Rose Sucker. A potent, benevolent, merciful love blend.
There are no listed notes, but this scent was achingly familiar in a way that I couldn't quite pin down. It's sharp strong rose with a sharp green base note, like a plant fresh cut and still leaking sap. The imp and skin scent are identical except that the on the skin, this already strong scent amps up to an impressive degree. Very potent, huge throw, very sharp, very green floral. Intended to be a Conjure/magical (voodoo) scent, but whether it works for its intended romantic purposes, I can't tell you.
SUGAR SKULL (LE, Yule 2007)
A blend of five sugars, lightly dusted with candied fruits.
A blend of white sugar, brown sugar, caramelized sugar (just a little burnt), and a wisp of something subtle in the background that must be the fruits. Surprisingly, the sweetness it's overwhelming or cloying, but rather bright and pale. On me, this scent grows very faint and develops a bitter note, which is why I'm passing it on.
AZIRAPHALE (GC?, Good Omens)
Ethereal musk, blonde woods, and dusty Bible accord.
I can't give a fair review of this one because it goes all wrong on my skin. In the vial, the scent has a bitter note that for some reason reminds me of tobacco, and the note becomes overwhelming on my skin, making the scent bitter and dusty and nose-wrinkling unpleasant. It's supposed to smell like pale woods, dust, parchment, and musk, a little masculine, dignified, light, and sun-warmed. I wish it had worked on me.
kaimetso, another male-friendly scent! Tentatively reserved.
(Now, having sniffed them to write these reviews, my desk area smells like a mash up of all the imps I don't like. Heeello, Chuparosa. It's not pleasant.)
I'm also looking to unload some buttons/pins/badges or whatever you want to call them. I've collected these for a while (because I'm a dork), but my interest has faded, so I'm just keeping my favorite. (*pets Vegeta button*) I'm happy to stick these inside letters/imp shipments/whathaveyou. Some are queer themed, some are clever sayings, some are from England's Red Nose Day or from the Ben and Jerry's factory in Vermont, some are American Girl pins (I know, I know). What people don't claim go to GoodWill. Let me know if you want any.
