bookish was featured on
lj_spotlight and was suddenly inundated with hundreds of new members that want to do nothing more than talk about Twilight.
In fact, I had no damn opinion either way on the first book. I tried the second, but at thirty pages in I realized I just didn't have the patience for that much more angst and whining and bad writing. I don't think they're worth the attention they've received, even the negative attention, but I didn't hate them for it. Believe you me, though, I sure do hate them now.
I don't care if you like the series, hate the series, want to speak out against the series, want to speak out in support of the series, want to shove the series down your pants, want to run away with Edward or Jacob or [insert Gary Stu here], want to pretend you're Bella, want to be vampire, want to insult people that like the series, want to read more books like the series, want to never read anything else like the series, or just want to mention the series offhand in the introduction to your post.
I just want everyone to shut up about it for a while. Yes, they're easily readable books which are engaging for some and annoying to others. But they're a passing trend, a fad, the Backstreet Boys of the current YA book generation, and we will all forget about them within the next ten years. So please, please can we get started on that process now?
