At the moment, my two cats have subtly different whiskers: they both look dark when they fall off, but if you place them against a piece of paper, you can see that Caper (a grey cat) has silvery whiskers, and Pickle (black) has black ones. Their mother, a Siamese (sadly deceased), had ticked whiskers too: dark grey at the base and white at the tip. They were very beautiful! I've had various black cats in my life, and obviously you couldn't tell their whiskers apart, but otherwise almost all of my cats have had different colour whiskers, so it's been easy to keep track!

I used to keep the whiskers in a hodegepodge in an old cigar box, which was lovely too -- mostly I could tell them apart from one another by colour, as the colour were fairly distinct.
