Isn't it weird?? It's almost belligerently unsatisfying--I was expecting a summary up to the end of the original series, and that it would directly pick up from there and resolve Bee's backstory etc. But: no. It's often more oblique than the original! It also grew on me. The narrative structure is as much a part of the style as anything. Big worldbuilding revelations?, it says. That's nice. Now attend this birthday party, which is equally important. And it is; the mundanity is what makes the bizarro world feel so liveable-in.

Anyway, it was you talking about Lower-Decks-best-Trek that made me vouch for it when we were looking for a new Trek. Zero regrets.
