Completed custom My Little Pony "Thistle"
Feb. 2nd, 2005 09:23 pmAs a thank you and an escape from thinking and work, I completed the custom My Little Pony that I've been working on for my old Romantic Lit professor. The pony's name is Thistle. Base is a G3 Desert Rose base (see below). Pony cutie mark, hoof mark, and glitter was stripped, hair was rerooted with Michael's doll hair in red, plaid cutie mark and thistle hoof mark were painted on and eyes were touched up to fix factory flaws and add purple heart. Accessories include a removable bracelet and barrette made of green beads and an unmodified white G3 brush. Pony is signed and dated on a front hoof and is packed in an unmodified Desert Rose box.

G3 Desert Rose base. The cutie mark left a faint stain but was covered by the new cutie mark. I used acetone to remove the glitter this time; it made the process much simpler, because normally that stuff is a bitch to take off.

Note that that the heart is hand painted. Before I started customs I could barely hold a paintbrushI'm rather pleased with my improvement. The heart color matches the thistle. The bracelet and barrette are made from an old bracelet of mine I had laying around, and are approximately peridot green.

Cutie mark and hoof mark are also hand painted. The cutie mark (butt mark) is based on Maxwell plaid (far right), which would have been the name for the pony if it had been a boy. The hoof mark is on the right hoof, which is where the magnet is located (the magnet is used to control pony play sets), and is of a thistle, the national flower of Scotland.
