Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special."

So here we go! What I want this holiday season—by greatest, sometimes most fantastical, wishes in no particular order...

1. Perfumes from Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs. I'm currently writing my huge long obsessive wishlist, and that will be available soon. My favorite notes are amber, resin, incense, apple/apple blossom, cocoa, and parchment/paper. The easiest way to fund this obsession is to fund my Paypal account, which I use almost exclusively for BPAL purchases: swiftskyes AT hotmail DOT com, or use the button below

2. Books (and games, and DVDs). I am an avid reader, and specifically enjoy fiction, including: (good) sci-fi, (not high) fantasy, (retold) fairy tales, gothic literature, classic literature, and general literature. I'm always willing to try a new book. I make good use of my local library, so I prefer to own books that are worth many rereads or are hard to find/out of print. I research ancient Celtic pagan religion, in particular that local to Scotland. I have an Amazon.com wishlist here (or use the button below), which includes a few games and films. Used books are absolutely fine with me. Don't be afraid of out of print/used only books—if it's on my list, I do really want it.

3. Book recommendations. I am always looking for new books to read, but I prefer it when a book comes recommended so that I know what I'm reading and why. Suggest titles of books you love and think that I should read, and tell me why, what stands out, what the book is like. Compelling recommendations always make my to-read list, and trust me, that's a wonderful thing for me as an avid reader. As a reference point, I prefer fiction, including: (good) sci-fi, (not high) fantasy, (retold) fairy tales, gothic literature, classic literature, and general literature, but I'm willing to try any good book.

4. Letters. I didn't sign up for any holiday card lists this year because I never send them out, so it seems unfair to request them. Nonetheless, if you feel like sending a Christmas card, please do. (I have no preference for holiday name—I celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, and "the holidays" on a cultural basis, and Yule on a syncretic-CR basis.) However, what I really love are personal letters—handwritten, on cute stationary or not, in pretty colors or not, with personality, attention, and care. I also send letters, so if you write to me, I will probably write back at some point.

5. Bears. I collect bears of all kinds—teddy bears, stone pendants, I'm even in the market for a good bear icon or two. Bears are my totem animal, and I generally relate to black bears, sometimes to grizzlies.

6. Jewelry. I've started wearing this more often, and I very much enjoy it—but I need more variety. For stones, I prefer amber and peridot; for metals, I prefer silver and copper. I wear necklaces primarily (complete necklaces or unstrung pendants), and sometimes bracelets and rings; I do not wear earrings. I'm interested in handmade "wearable sculpture" style jewelry, like Wyrding Studios, or any one-of-a-kind designs.

7. A subscription to the Flash MMORPG DOFUS. (I greatly enjoyed playing through the free section, and would love to try out the rest of the game.) Unfortunately, Ankama Games doesn't have a gift subscription service, but I can pay subscriptions with Paypal. They start at $6.90/month. Paypal: swiftskyes AT hotmail DOT com, or use the button below:

8. Clothes, in particular shirts. I very rarely buy clothes for myself, so I always need more. I need shirts, long or short sleeves, size medium, with long torsos—the ones that come down to the hips, not the waist. I prefer natural materials, and I wear a lot of black, brown, green (olive and yellow-green), and some blue. I hate screen-printed designs on my clothes.

9. Chocolate. I'm a chocolate fanatic, and always want more. I only eat dark chocolate, and prefer bittersweet, very high cocoa content (65% or more), and I have a weakness for limited-origin chocolate, where the beans are all harvested from the same location, and the chocolate takes on a unique, delicate flavor.

10. Moleskine notebooks. I didn't believe the hype about these until I filled one, and now I'm eager for more. I prefer pocket-sized (3x5.5 inches) ruled notebooks—with the cardboard cover. One of these is on my Amazon wishlist, but I'd love to horde a supply of them.

The best way to get in contact with me regarding any of this:

Do you have a holiday wishlist? My funds are (quite) tight, but I'd still like to gift where I can. Feel free to comment with your list, or a link to your own.
