Madison still doesn't leave the master bedroom, but she has finally come out from under the bed to lay atop it. Ergo:

Madison, sleeping
Meet Madison, the cat.

Madison is a female longhair gray mackerel tabby cat. She's very small, despite the long hair and having recently put on some weight. I suggested the name Madison when they were looking for an M name to match the shape on her forehead.

Maddy was originally found as the source of loud meowing, a tiny kitten in a cardboard box in the Eastern Oregon desert. She hasn't quite been right since. As a kitten, she was incredibly ... strange: antisocial, hyperactive, very fast, inclined to claw and bite, intelligent but living in her own little world. She wasn't neutered for a few years, and as a result she was always ready to breed, meowing out of windows and spraying the furniture. Within the last year (after much reminding and cajoling from Devon and myself), they finally had her fixed—since then, she's been much calmer and cleaner and has become moderately people friendly. But Madison still keeps her distance. She is mistrustful, and prefers her own company, and will sometimes sit in front of a mirror and watch her own reflection; she doesn't like to be controlled by humans, although she infrequently deigns to let them rub her forehead.

She's always been my favorite—and I see much of myself in her.
