Ghost and Aaron: Master List | Next Update

Oh my god, I'm addicted. If you're sick of these posts already, then I apologize for bombarding you flist. If you're enjoying them—well, I have more! Things with Aaron and Ghost continue apace—foosball, kissing, and a little incident with the TV...

Trash talk
Trash talkin' over foosball.
Not that it did Ghost any good—he lost this round.
(Aaron nearly lives in his boxer shorts.)

So begins another few days. +22 pictures, you have been warned. )

And for that matter, I'm tending that way myself. With my mods, the boys have the option to take their romance as far as they want it to go—but there's only so much time in the day around Ghost's work hours (he only works part-time, but may quit anyhow—they can scrape by without the income), and it's easier to splash around in the dingy little pool or play another game of foosball than commit to a relationship. But there is something very sweet about their fumbling advances from friends as close as brothers—into lovers. So for now, I let them set the pace ... but the powers that be have an itchy clicky finger.

Humanizing and obsessing over my sims? You bet! But I've more or less accepted that at this point, these two are telling a story—even if they are just a simulation.

Meanwhile, I also bear pretty and pointless pictures.

To test out some piercings on a wider range of sims, I switched households for a moment (and didn't save after, because I just can't bare to abandon Ghost and Aaron right now)—and went to Tomi's household to find Dominic:

I just liked this shot of Dominic, is all
Chatting to a townie and looking like the handsome devil that he is.

For all my love of Tomi and my fondness for Robert and Jacob's household, I find it's Dominic that I miss playing most. He's not as obviously distinctive but spend a few minutes around him and he's just hilarious. Dominic is a demanding snob with an ego the size of a nation-state and a suspiciously dark heart—and yet he's surprisingly personable and a very convincing flirt.

I've seen him burn waffles to crumbling charcoal, and then turn around and brag to the next passerby about his culinary prowess. I've seen him reject a woman's advances until they shared a long conversation about their shared love for cold hard cash—and then he started hitting on her. I've seen him try to pick up complete strangers, express perfect confusion when they turn him down—and then use another pickup line. He's intelligent and sociable and can't see an inch beyond his own remarkably well-shaped nose, and he is delightful. I miss him.

Oh yeah and he takes pretty photos.

Here, have a pretty shot of Ghost, too. )

You guys have no one to blame for this but yourselves—but after a few folk actually enjoying my Sims 3 picspam, I feel free to post more Sims 3 pics now. ^_^ Mostly, though, I'm posting due to interesting and amusing events. But to begin at the beginning...

With, er, some pretty pictures! No, really, these are just pointless shots that I like but don't make for much in the way of a narrative.

He just keeps growing on me.

Meanwhile, things with Ghost and Aaron precede apace. It'd odd—for a while I was playing with very full households, so there would be more chance of, more variety in, inter-sim interactions. Then I dumped these two in a rundown house with nothing more exciting than a splintered foosball table—and they've proven to be endlessly entertaining. I finally took away almost all their cash (thank you, familyFunds cheat), so they're living off produce from Central Park's community garden and Ghost's part-time job. Aaron could pawn off the goods he steals, but they make too pretty a collection. They've developed a comfortable routine: Aaron makes messes, Ghost cleans them, and they occupy each other's hours in comfortable companionship. So:

Aaron is kind of a dick
We begin our story with Aaron, who is sort of a dick.
He's expanding to petty vandalism as well as petty theft.
Meanwhile, his klepto's trove has grown by a light fixture, flower vase, and second headstone.

See? Proceeding apace! Ghost got a job, Aaron stole another light, everyone played in the park sprinkler and was happy. And then AwesomeMod updated to support the 1.3 patch, so I downloaded the patch, updated AwesomeMod, beat myself over the head with my computer (the game-breaking problem turned out to be really small and easy to fix, but it was a pain in the ass to find), and then sent out to test the patch. There are reported problems with it, you see, so I figured I'd run a day or three on super-speed, sit back and watch for bugs, and then quit without saving.

Except the following day of complete autonomy was ... interesting. All I did was speed up and slow down time—I didn't even cancel actions. They made food, slept, peed, watched some crappy TV, played foosball, painted, each of the boys hanging out on different halves of the house and killing time. Then Ghost's image popped up on Aaron's queue, so I slowed time down to find:

Known issues with the 1.3 patch include everything from disappearing households to freezing and crashing, so there's a chance that the boys may lose all memory of their Very Odd, Unexpectedly Amorous Autonomous Day. But for now I've saved it to a new file and shall see where it goes. I initially had vague plans to leave these two to their own interpersonal ends and decide for themselves whether they were friends or lovers, but the new direction they've taken still came way out of left field. Not that I don't approve (although it is a bit odd to sit back and just watch the game like it were TV ... and still have it be nearly as interesting as player influence makes it), mind, but I am surprised.

So I'm caving a bit to indulge in a perfectly pointless Sims 3 picspam which will probably bore the pants off of the lot of you, since I assume most of you aren't playing. But the game has been keeping me amused for weeks now, and I am compelled to share such joy in the form of silly pictures and mini-stories. The straw that broke my back was the following event:

Because as established I have next to zero self-image (and there's currently no Sims 3 neko custom content), I have precious little interest in creating a selfsim. And yet:

Robert, he of the bleached hair, is a flirt and entirely inappropriate, and so after merely one conversation he set out to kiss: Ghost, of the white hair, a new boy in town and a romantic at heart. I was playing Ghost's household at the time, so all of this caught me entirely by surprise—but not unpleasantly so because I encourage the rampant spread of homoeroticism in my little town.

Robert kissing Ghost, with audience

And on that note: there in the background is Wednesday, who is evil and humorless and generally not inclined to smile, looking on with the most peculiar expression. One might even say: intent. approving. freakish.

And so you see: all of my female sims are selfsims, or at least sisters of the heart. This isn't the first time this has happened, either. I've caught different boys kissing with a different girl smiling foolishly in the background, and it makes me laugh every time.

Robert the rock god
But then, Robert is a rock legend and easy on the eyes.
I guess I can't blame Ghost or, er, their audience.

Just when I thought Sims 3 was starting to grow boring, I finally pulled together a proper neighborhood—about fifteen (and more to come) of my own Sims stretching the length of one street—and again it has come to life. I've started with a new household, and set in a neighborhood filled with sims with vivid personalities and better-than-Maxis appearances makes their story becomes that much more entertaining. And seeing the sims I'm not playing 'round town is like an easter egg every time. To whit:

Tomi, Mouse, and Dominic. )

Before starting this newest household I was mostly playing Robert's, which includes a red-head crazy guy named Jacob who is blatantly inspired by Aikea Guinea's Jacob—and while he is not quite as, er, incredible as hers, he amuses me.

Two pics of Jacob. Beware naked sim bum. )

But my newest household is my current favorite (of course): Aaron and Ghost. They're best friends and cousins who could pass as brothers who live in a cockroach-infested dive which once passed as a modern suburban dwelling. Aaron came together like a dream; Ghost required a touchup from Awesomemod's editsim feature, but it was worth it.

Seven pics of Aaron and Ghost. )

Bored yet?

I'm half tempted to put up Aaron and Ghost the way that I did Tomi, although both use a ton of custom content. If anyone's interested, just let me know. And goodness all, but Sims is crack. I can't even imagine how it must be for core Sims 2 players, with years's worth, a veritable cornucopia, of custom content to chosefrom. As this is my current obsession I've of course been watching CC evolve with the same eagle-eye I developed from my time in the SL fashion scene, and it's fascinating and cruel—because the tools are developing so quickly, so many wonderful goods are already available, and yet ohsomuch is lacking and still to come.

So is anyone else playing Sims 3?
